Bonal Manutention, a subsidiary of the Bovis Group specialized in heavy transport and handling, recently carried out a highly technical operation in Saint-Ouen-l’Aumône, in the Val d’Oise department (95): the reception, transport, and delivery of four oil-filled electrical transformers, each weighing 5.5 tonnes. This operation perfectly showcases our expertise in managing sensitive equipment in constrained environments, while strictly adhering to safety standards and the logistical demands of the energy sector.
Before delivery, the transformers were received and temporarily stored in our secure warehouse located near Paris, in the Hauts-de-Seine department (92). This preliminary phase, essential for the success of the operation, is part of our integrated logistics approach: reception, inspection, storage, and preparation of equipment right up to on-site installation.
Our warehouse, fully equipped for the secure storage of heavy equipment, plays a key role in the success of this type of operation. Fitted with overhead cranes, it enables smooth, fast, and safe loading and unloading operations—even for multi-ton components. This infrastructure enhances our ability to receive, handle, and prepare the heaviest equipment under optimal conditions.
Thanks to our dedicated facilities and proven processes, we were able to guarantee the availability of the equipment precisely when required.
On the day of the operation, two crane trucks were deployed to simultaneously transport the four transformers to the client's site. Our experienced drivers, experts in technical convoys, ensured a safe delivery in full compliance with the site constraints and client requirements. Our fleet of specialized vehicles allows us to meet all demands in terms of capacity, lifting power, and accessibility.
Bovis Group agencies specialize in the transport of high-tech equipment, often sensitive, high-value, and with strict technical requirements. Thanks to our tailored transport solutions, the continuous training of our teams, and the meticulous planning of every operation, we ensure risk-free handling of the most complex materials—whether next-generation transformers, industrial UPS systems, or large electronic components. This technical expertise allows us to intervene with confidence on strategic, high-value projects.
The final phase of the operation involved positioning the transformers inside their retention basins. Due to limited space, it was not possible to place them directly from the trucks. Our teams implemented an alternative method: unloading to the ground followed by rolling on skates to their final position.
This delicate maneuver was performed with great care by our expert handler, demonstrating our ability to adapt our methods to on-site constraints. It is precisely in these complex configurations that Bonal Manutention's experience makes all the difference.
For nearly 100 years, Bonal has stood out for its expertise in specialized handling and the transport of technical equipment. The operation in Saint-Ouen-l’Aumône highlights our command of complex environments, our operational rigor, and our ability to deliver turnkey services to industrial clients, energy providers, and equipment installers.
Through its BTP & Energy Centre of Excellence, the Bovis Group supports professionals in the energy sector across all their sensitive equipment transport and installation projects. Our teams work on a wide range of equipment: transformers, generators, UPS systems, electrical cabinets, cable drums, and components for renewable energy solutions. We manage the entire logistics chain, from reception to final positioning—including the removal and recycling of obsolete equipment.
Our approach stands out thanks to customized technical solutions, in-depth knowledge of electrical engineering requirements, and constant adaptation to access constraints in both urban and industrial worksites. With more than 30 locations across France, we are equipped to respond anywhere in the country with speed, safety, and efficiency.
