A major industrial project in central Portugal

Bovis Ibérica recently carried out a heavy industrial machinery storage operation near Leiria, at its warehouse in Pataias, close to Nazaré. The equipment involved consisted of several escalator components, each weighing approximately 7 tonnes, imported directly from China for an installation project in the Leiria region.

Due to a delay in the project schedule, these components had to be stored for several months under optimal conditions, ensuring their safety and integrity prior to commissioning.

Reception and handling of heavy machinery from China

The operation began with the reception of maritime containers arriving from China. Following customs clearance, our specialised teams took charge of unloading the equipment.

Using our truck equipped with a crane arm, each escalator component – weighing several tonnes – was handled with precision and complete safety. This delicate handling phase perfectly illustrates Bovis Ibérica’s expertise in the transport and logistics of heavy industrial machinery.

A warehouse designed for heavy-load storage

The escalator components were stored on the ground in a dedicated area of our Pataias warehouse. This facility features reinforced flooring, perfectly suited to the storage of heavy machinery and industrial equipment.

Each movement was monitored and recorded through our computerised stock management system, providing the client with a clear, real-time overview of the status of their equipment.

Final delivery and on-site handling in Leiria

At the end of the storage period, the machinery was reloaded onto flatbed semi-trailers, once again using our truck-mounted crane.

Our teams then handled the transport to the installation site in Leiria, followed by unloading and final on-site handling. The entire operation was completed on schedule, with the highest standards of safety and precision.
