Industrial Relocation in the Rhône-Alpes Region

Industrial Relocation in the Rhône-Alpes Region

Transfer and Removal of a 12-Ton Press by Manudem Rhône-Alpes

Industrial relocation in the Rhône-Alpes region requires advanced technical expertise, specialized equipment, and precise logistical planning. In the industrial sector, moving heavy machinery is far more complex than standard transport. It involves detailed preparation, safe handling procedures, and highly trained teams capable of managing heavy loads in constrained environments.

Manudem Rhône-Alpes, part of the BOVIS Group, a recognized specialist in industrial relocation and heavy handling, recently completed a complex operation involving the inter-site transfer of a 12-ton industrial press and the removal of another 12-ton press for disposal. This project highlights the agency’s strong expertise in industrial relocation in the Rhône-Alpes region, where precision, safety, and efficiency are critical to the success of each operation.

An Industrial Transfer Between Two Sites in Rhône-Alpes

As part of the reorganization of a production facility, an industrial client in the Rhône-Alpes region entrusted Manudem Rhône-Alpes with the task of transferring a 12-ton press between two production sites.

The project involved moving the equipment from the Pressensé site to the Joliot Curie site, while carefully managing the technical constraints related to the weight and dimensions of the machine. With a press height of 3.2 meters, the transport required the use of a low-bed trailer, which is particularly suited for moving large industrial machinery.

This type of industrial relocation in the Rhône-Alpes region requires perfect coordination between handling teams, crane operators, and specialists in heavy transport operations.

Rolling and Handling the Press Using Mouvers

The first stage of the project involved removing the press from its original position within the production workshop.

To achieve this, the teams from Manudem Rhône-Alpes used their mouvers, specialized heavy-handling equipment designed to move extremely heavy loads within industrial environments.

The 12-ton press was rolled over a distance of approximately 50 meters, allowing it to be safely transported from its original position to the loading area. This phase is particularly delicate, as it requires precise control of the load in order to avoid vibrations or instability that could damage the equipment or nearby infrastructure.

Thanks to the experience of the BOVIS Group teams, this stage was carried out under optimal safety and precision conditions.

Loading the Press Using a 90-Ton Crane Arm

Once the press had been positioned in the loading area, the teams carried out the lifting operation using a 90-ton crane arm equipped with a rear crane boom (BDG 90t).

This configuration allows heavy lifting operations to be performed while maintaining maximum stability throughout the maneuver.

The industrial press was then loaded onto a low-bed trailer, specifically selected to transport high and heavy machinery. This type of trailer ensures compliance with road transport regulations while keeping the equipment secure during the journey.

This stage is a key moment in any industrial relocation project in the Rhône-Alpes region, as it combines high-precision lifting operations with the requirements of exceptional transport.

Secure Transport Between the Two Industrial Sites

Once the press had been loaded, it was transported from the Pressensé site to the Joliot Curie site using the low-bed trailer.

Transporting heavy industrial machinery requires specific logistical preparation, including:

  • route analysis,

  • verification of height clearances,

  • load securing procedures,

  • coordination with on-site teams to receive the equipment.

Thanks to its extensive experience in industrial relocation in the Rhône-Alpes region, Manudem Rhône-Alpes ensures that these operations are carried out in full compliance with safety standards and transport regulations.

Unloading and Positioning the Press at the New Site

Upon arrival at the Joliot Curie site, the teams proceeded with the unloading of the press using the 90-ton crane arm.

Once placed on the ground, the machine was again moved approximately 50 meters using the mouvers, allowing it to reach its final position within the production workshop.

This final positioning phase is particularly critical, as the machine must be installed with millimetric precision to enable its future operation.

Thanks to specialized equipment and the expertise of the BOVIS Group technicians, the press was successfully installed in its new production environment.

Removal and Disposal of a 12-Ton Industrial Press

In addition to the transfer of the first machine, Manudem Rhône-Alpes also handled the removal of a second 12-ton press scheduled for disposal and destruction.

The process followed a similar methodology:

  1. rolling the press over 50 meters using mouvers,

  1. loading the machine with the 90-ton crane arm,

  1. transport using an appropriate trailer,

  1. evacuation to a certified destruction and recycling facility.

This type of service is an integral part of industrial relocation operations in the Rhône-Alpes region, particularly when companies modernize their production lines or replace outdated equipment.
